reasonable position; and I do not see why Mr. Clunie should consider it invidious,nor on what grounds he claims that he is entitled to more favourable tenne than these officers.
I would suggest, therefore, that in replying to 13, we should agree generally with the proposals made by the Governor, observing on the case of · Mr. Clunie as in X of my minute of the 9th June in 61640 C.R., but adding that we should see no objection to Mr. Clunie and any other officers in a similar position being given rather more advantageous entry points on the revised scule if the Governor thinks that this course is justified by the merits of the particular cases and is not likely to cause injustice to other officers serving in the Colony.
